DHS S&T Phase II wildland fire sensor research — N5 Sensors and Breeze Technologies
Closed$3MValue2021-08Awarded
Details
DHS S&T selected N5 Sensors and Breeze Technologies (announced August 2021) for Phase II of its Wildland Fire Sensor research program — hardening chemical/particulate ignition-detection sensors for long-term deployment and early alerting; N5's sensors were later deployed at ~200 sites including Kirtland Air Force Base.
Contract ended 31 Dec 2024; DHS OIG report OIG-26-05 (April 2026) found the sensors did not consistently detect fires, and DHS had no plans to fund wildfire sensor detection further. No successor procurement.
