Details

CAL FIRE California Climate Investments Fire Prevention grant (#5GG19121, $89,700 state funds plus $16,000 County cost share) funding a goat-grazing vendor to reduce flammable vegetation on roughly 25 steep acres in Malibu's Big Rock community, protecting about 500 homes.

CAL FIRE California Climate Investments grant 5GG19121 that funded this award has been expended and the 2020 grazing contract completed. The activity itself continues under new LA County Fire procurements: goats and sheep were again deployed at Big Rock in Malibu in June 2026 under the department's ongoing goat-grazing program, and LA County Fire now maintains a standing goat-grazing program page.
