Its wildfire giving runs through the Nature portfolio: a $2.7M, two-year grant announced 11 August 2026 to the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies extends the Western Fire & Forest Resilience Collaborative, led by Dr. Winslow D. Hansen, into western grasslands and shrublands with a west Texas focus, and adds capacity to study how forest composition affects evapotranspiration and snow persistence in the Colorado River Basin. It follows a 2024 grant for Colorado wildfire research. WFFRC was seeded by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation.
