Nevada County supervisors approved on July 15, 2026 a Good Neighbor Agreement among the Tahoe National Forest, Nevada County OES and the Truckee Fire Protection District (project lead) for roughly 300 acres of hazardous-vegetation reduction on private land bordering the forest and Highway 89 from Jackass Point to Deerfield, funded with $604,750 in federal grant money plus $345,000 in Measure T match; work begins fall 2026 with completion expected in 2027.
