Since June 2025 the district has used BurnBot Inc.'s remotely operated, tractor-size mastication robot to grind fire-prone vegetation into chips in fields, wildland areas and neighborhoods across the San Ramon Valley. Local reporting does not establish whether the arrangement is a purchase, lease or service contract, and no contract value, term or board approval has been located in district records.

Searches of San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District board agendas/minutes and third-party procurement indexes (Civic IQ) surface no BurnBot contract, purchase order or agenda item; the district's visible contracting activity concerns Fire Station 31 construction.
