Big Sky Fire Department deployed a 360-degree AI-powered Pano AI camera on Lone Peak, jointly funded with Big Sky Resort, Yellowstone Club, and Big Sky Resort Area District; it detected the Shedhorn Fire within a week of installation and a lightning fire near Moonlight Basin in August 2024.

Big Sky Resort Area District has allocated $40,000 in resort-tax dollars to Big Sky Fire Department for the Pano AI detection technology. That is one funder's contribution, not the contract value; the rest is cost-shared with Big Sky Resort, Yellowstone Club/Spanish Peaks, Moonlight Basin and (for the later Pioneer Mountain station) Risk Strategies.
