DIU and the Air Force awarded prototype contracts to five companies — Windborne (long-duration smart weather balloons), Muon Space (small weather satellites), Tomorrow.io, GreenSight and NextGen Federal Systems — to feed commercial atmospheric data into military forecasting, the same data layer used for fire-weather awareness.
