SB 85-funded program ($117.4M: $95.3M FEMA HMGP, $20.8M state, $1.2M local, with FEMA awards issued March-June 2023, plus $13M from AB 179) paying contractors to retrofit and create defensible space for income-qualified homes in pilot communities across Lake, San Diego, Shasta, Siskiyou, El Dorado and Tuolumne counties; 31 homes completed and 23 in progress as of May 2025, with Proposition 4 adding a further $135M for home hardening.
