Announced Aug. 6, 2026: the Forest Service committed $9.2M, matched by $9.2M from the State of Utah, for an $18M post-fire recovery effort to be executed through a Good Neighbor Agreement under which Utah state agencies lead soil stabilization, road and infrastructure repair, watershed rehabilitation, native reseeding and invasive-species control on lands burned by the 97,000-acre Cottonwood Fire near Beaver, Utah; a statement of intent was signed and work is to start as fires are controlled.
