Vegetation Management West
Details
Fuels-reduction project expanded from 139 to roughly 278 acres across 25 private parcels near Old Grand Mesa Road, with contractor Vegetation Management West performing mastication and the Sheriff's Office building a 300-foot fuelbreak along the evacuation route.
Colorado State Forest Service coverage names Vegetation Management West as the mastication contractor and states the work is paid with U.S. Forest Service grant funds, with participating landowners reimbursed at 75% of treatment cost, but publishes no contract amount. A separate 2023 Colorado 'Forest Restoration and Wildfire Risk Mitigation' grant bought equipment for the Mesa County Sheriff's Office.
