Grant program created by AB 888 (Safe Homes Act), effective Jan 1, 2026, administered by the California Department of Insurance, seeded with $3 million in the state budget. Eligible homeowners must hold an admitted-carrier or FAIR Plan policy, live in a high wildfire-risk area, and meet income limits set by HCD. Funds cover 5-foot ember-resistant zones and fire-safe roof replacement; per-grant amounts were not yet set. CDI targeted an application portal by March 2026 and plans to seek additional state and federal funding.

Status 'Closed' is not supported. $3M is a program-wide seed appropriation, not an award.
