Reported May 26, 2026, Google provided $250,000 to the University of Oregon Hazards Lab to expand the ALERTWest wildfire detection camera network in Wasco County, including The Dalles and the Columbia River Gorge. New cameras feed into the ALERTWest.live platform, which displays imagery from more than 1,800 cameras. The funding covers camera installation and integration into the regional detection network.

Corporate philanthropic grant, not a procurement. Google is the funder; the UO Hazards Lab is the recipient - the buyer/awardee fields were inverted.
