Xcel Energy announced on May 14, 2026 that nine Pano AI wildfire detection cameras have been installed in northwestern Wisconsin at Birchwood, Cumberland, Hayward, Luck, Mercer, Spooner, South Wind Lake, Tomah and Manitowish Waters, with additional units planned by the end of 2026. The cameras use artificial intelligence to identify smoke and alert utility and emergency personnel. Xcel Energy also operates Pano AI cameras in Minnesota, Colorado, Texas and New Mexico.
